I hope you’ve been warming up and sighting in! All across the state we’re ramping up the shoots for the 2026 year.
2026 NFAA Nevada State Indoor Championships
The 2026 NFAA Nevada State Indoor Championships are just around the corner, and you may now sign up! This is a virtual tournament where archers can compete at their participating local clubs and shops. Archers will shoot a NFAA 300 round on one day and a Vegas 300 round on the second day for a total possible score of 600. Both being shot at a distance of 20 yards, the NFAA 300 round involves shooting 60 arrows, divided into 12 ends of 5 arrows each, and the Vegas 300 round involves shooting 30 arrows, divided into 10 ends of 3 arrows each.
This will be held on various dates between February 1st and March 21st, 2026. And remember, there is a new NFAA division you can compete in beginning this year: Modern Freestyle Bowhunter (aka Outlaw)!

NBHA Mid-Winter Meeting
On January 10th, the NBHA board is holding its Mid-Winter Meeting to discuss and plan for its upcoming State Outdoor Championships and its State Marked 3D Championships.
NBHA has historically held 5 separate State Championship shoots: the Indoor, the Outdoor, the Marked 3D, the Unmarked 3D, and the 900 round. The best all-around shooter at the end of the season in each division received a State Champion belt buckle. Over the last couple years, in 2024-2025, we were unable to hold all the shoots. This year we are excited to announce that we are bringing back the State Outdoor Championships and the State Marked 3D Championships in addition to the State Indoor Championships. Details will follow in next month’s monthly e-blast.
2026 Sheep Show
January 22nd-24th, the Wild Sheep Foundation is holding its annual Sheep Show event at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno. This is a great opportunity to check out all of the awesome organizations in hunting, conservation, and outdoor sport. Please come visit us at the NBHA booth! We will be raffling off a Signature animal target for $1/ticket, $5/6 tickets, and $10/12 tickets. Annual NBHA Scholarship
The annual NBHA Scholarship is awarded to qualifying individuals enrolled in higher education who have made contributions to the sport of archery and are likely to make contributions in the future. Applications for the 2026 NBHA Scholarship are now open, and the deadline to submit applications is May 30, 2026. NFAA Call for Volunteers
NFAA is looking for volunteers to assist with the Vegas Shoot from March 26th through March 29th next year at Planet Holleywood. Specifically, NFAA needs volunteers to help with self check-in, collecting and organizing scorecards, overseeing bow storage, manning the practice range, and set-up and tear down.
Board of Wildlife Commissioners
Next Meeting: January 23-24 in Reno – The Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners meet next on January 23rd and 24th in Reno at the Washoe County Administrative Complex, Building A, Commission Chambers, 1001 E. Ninth Street. This will be their first meeting of the year. During this meeting, the Commission will discuss big game seasons and regulations. The official agenda, including the exact time it starts, will be posted on the NDOW website (https://www.ndow.org/events/commission-meeting-january-23-and-24-2026/), where you can also find information on public comment procedures.
